How to compress an image

Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Every image is compressed entirely in your browser on your own device. Your images never leave your computer, which keeps them completely private.
How much smaller will my image get?
It depends on the image and the level you choose. Photos saved as JPG or WebP often shrink by 50–80% with little visible change. PNGs (logos, screenshots) usually shrink less because PNG is lossless.
Will compressing reduce the quality?
Compression trades a little quality for a smaller file. At the recommended level the difference is usually hard to see. Drag the slider toward "Better quality" if you want to keep more detail, or toward "Smaller file" for the smallest size.
Does the format stay the same?
