Turn many lines into one, without losing your spaces
Text copied from PDFs, emails and code editors is often hard-wrapped, with a line break at the end of every line even in the middle of a sentence. Paste it here and the line breaks come out, joining everything into one continuous block. Each line is joined with a space by default, so your words and sentences never run together. How to remove line breaks
- Paste your text. Drop the broken-up text into the top box.
- Choose what replaces each break. A space, a comma, or your own custom text.
- Copy or download. Take the joined text with the copy button, or save it as a text file.
The options explained
- Space joins the lines with a single space, which reads as normal running text.
- Comma joins the lines with a comma and a space, handy for turning a list into one line.
- Custom lets you type exactly what goes between the lines, such as - , a semicolon, or a pipe.
- Trim spaces around each line removes stray spaces at the start and end of each line first, so the joins stay clean and you don't get double spaces.
- Remove blank lines drops empty lines so you don't end up with the separator repeated where there were paragraph gaps.
Frequently asked questions
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The line breaks are removed in your browser with plain JavaScript. Your text is never uploaded or stored on a server, which keeps it completely private.
Will it keep the spaces between my sentences?
Yes. Each line break is replaced with a space by default, and stray spaces at the ends of lines are trimmed first, so sentences stay properly spaced instead of running together.
Can I replace line breaks with commas or something else?
Yes. Choose Comma to join lines with a comma and a space, or choose Custom and type any separator you want, such as a dash, a semicolon or a pipe.
What happens to blank lines and paragraphs?
By default blank lines are removed so the separator is not repeated where paragraphs were. Turn off "Remove blank lines" if you would rather keep those gaps as separators.
